The Department of Information and Communications Technology conducted the third leg of the Digital Governance Initiatives last November 21, 2019 in Puerto Princesa City. It was held in a back to back event with Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting (DTTB) Migration Regional Information Session and Internet Governance Symposium.
The event was graced by 160 participants from various NGAs, LGUs, academe, and NGOs in the Province of Palawan. The welcoming remarks was delivered Puerto Princesa City Vice Mayor Nancy Socrates, on behalf of Mayor Lucilo Bayron, expressing the local government’s full support in the implementation of various DICT projects.
The plans and programs discussed during the event were the E-Government Masterplan 2022, Policies for the National Broadband Plan, ICT Standards, Section 14 of RA 11032, and the local initiatives of the DICT Luzon Cluster 3.
During the afternoon session, Ms. Mary Joy Abueg, President of the Palaweno ICT Association, presented an overview of the ICT industry landscape of Palawan laying out the timeline of the province’s major milestones related to ICT. This was succeeded by presentation on the National ICT Ecosystem Framework (NICTEF) and its draft Results Matrix. An engagement forum was conducted to provide an avenue for the participants to share their inputs and comments to enhance the NICTEF Results Matrix to further develop a rational and reasonable targets.
Regional Director Cheryl C. Ortega of DICT Luzon Cluster 3 concluded the event by extending her thanks and gratitude for the active engagement of the participants and encouraged them to take part in the future endeavors of the DICT.
