The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) conducted the Digital Governance Initiatives in Zamboanga City last October 24, 2019. The event was well participated by around 100 representatives from national government agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), academe, and the private sector.
With the aim to spread awareness on the various initiatives of the DICT directed towards improving the country’s digital governance, the DICT presented the E-Government Masterplan 2022, Policies on the National Broadband Plan, ICT Standards and Section 14 of the RA 11302, and the regional updates on the projects of the DICT Mindanao Cluster 1.
The afternoon session of the event was dedicated for the National ICT Ecosystem Framework (NICTEF), wherein the Internet Society in the person of Ms. Noelle de Guzman presented the Multistakeholder Approach in Policy-Making which was also adopted in the development of the NICTEF. This presentation was followed by an Overview of the NICTEF and its Results Matrix given by Mr. Ruben P. Tadina of the Plans and Policy Development Division of the DICT.
To ensure that the draft Results Matrix are reasonable and attainable, an engagement forum with the participants was held where they were divided into six (6) groups based on the NICTEF Strategic Thrusts. Each group discussed possible revisions to improve each indicator on the assigned Strategic Thrust.
The same event will be conducted in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on November 21, 2019 in the hopes of gathering more inputs from diverse regional stakeholders for a more inclusive and effective implementation of the NICTEF.
