The Philippine Network Operator’s Group (PhNOG) conducted a conference at Bai Hotel, Cebu City last March 4-8, 2019. The event served as a venue for the experts of the Internet community to gather and discuss business initiatives and opportunities.
Engr. Benjz Gerard Sevilla, from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Infostructure Management and Special Concerns, discussed the National ICT Ecosystem Framework (NICTEF) highlighting its strategic thrust on Improved Public Links and Connectivity. This focuses on increasing infusion of investments in the telecommunications industry to drive development.
This thrust is aided by key ICT projects such as the Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places Project, Government Network, National Broadband Plan, and the National Government Data Center Project.
Other presentation were updates from the Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) and Internet Society Philippine Chapter.
